Printed textiles have become a mainstay of display work. Fabric graphics are lighter than rigid alternatives, fold for transport without creasing badly, and give a soft, premium finish for exhibitions, retail and events.
Most display textiles are polyester, printed by dye-sublimation, though many can also be printed with UV and latex inks. The main types are display fabrics for exhibition walls and tension frames, backlit fabrics for lightboxes, flag fabrics designed to let wind through and show the print on both sides, and heavier blockout and canvas materials. Recycled polyester options are increasingly common.
When choosing fabric, match it to your printing method and the finish the job needs. Check how it will be finished, whether sewn with silicone edging for tension frames or hemmed for flags, and look at stretch, weight and fire rating. Ask for samples to test colour and see-through, especially for backlit work.
