Digital cutting tables, also called flatbed cutters or digital die-cutters, cut finished shapes from sheet and roll materials without the need for a physical die. A moving head carries interchangeable tools, typically an oscillating knife, a creasing wheel and often a router spindle, so one machine can cut, crease and route.
A camera reads registration marks on printed work so shapes are cut exactly where they were printed. That makes them central to point-of-sale displays, exhibition graphics, packaging prototypes and short-run cartons, working with board, foam, corrugated, magnetic sheet and fabric.
When comparing machines, look at bed size and maximum material thickness, which tools you need now and later, router power if you plan to cut harder materials, and options for automation such as conveyors and sheet feeders. Ask about software, training and the service cover on offer.
