Canon has expanded its industry-leading web-fed production inkjet portfolio with the introduction of the ColorStream 7000 series.
The launch further strengthens Canon’s web-fed inkjet portfolio and arrives as the ColorStream platform celebrates its 15-year anniversary, surpassing 2,000 installations worldwide. Developed for demanding daily production environments, the new series balances operational efficiency with the flexibility to support evolving customer requirements across business communications, books, and direct mail.
The ColorStream 7000 series includes three models, which are the ColorStream 7075, the ColorStream 7100, and the ColorStream 7127. Together, this series offers production speeds ranging from 48 to 127 metres per minute, delivering monthly volumes of up to 56 million A4 impressions. Available in both monochrome and full‑colour configurations, the platform’s scalable architecture allows customers to seamlessly upgrade performance or transition from mono to colour as business demands change over time.
Built on Canon’s latest web-fed inkjet architecture, the new press family features native 600 dpi printheads and highly pigmented, water-based inks paired with Canon DigiDot multi-level inkjet technology. This technical combination achieves a perceived 1200 dpi print quality on standard offset uncoated, recycled, and inkjet‑treated papers. To reinforce production confidence during long runs, the hardware utilises a water-cooled printhead design to stabilise ink temperature, while Canon’s pre-fire technology maintains nozzle performance by continuously circulating ink inside the chamber.
The ColorStream 7000 series integrates fully into Canon’s PRISMA workflow ecosystem, with optional support for PRISMAproduction and the cloud-based PRISMAlytics Dashboard. Practical production features—such as waste‑free print pause, inspection mode, and controlled print‑in‑ramps—help operators check and adjust jobs without unnecessary paper loss. Sharing its core technical infrastructure with the higher-end ColorStream 8000, the 7000 series includes Canon’s latest SRA Massive Parallel controller to deliver significantly improved RIP performance compared with previous mid-range models.
Sustainability has also been considered throughout the design phase, resulting in low power consumption in both production and idle modes. The presses feature an efficient contact drying system, which, combined with precise paper handling and ink control, minimises overall energy use. The series also supports customers seeking to meet recognised environmental standards, including the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and Blue Angel 195 requirements.
