KGK Genix has announced that Wiktoria Markiewicz has joined the team as Junior Project Manager, following the successful completion of their recent student initiative in partnership with Hertford Regional College (HRC).

Wiktoria earned her placement after emerging as the winner of the annually run Student Retail Design & Careers Competition for the brief from KGK Genix client, Dune London. Over five weeks she undertook a work placement at KGK Genix, gaining real-world experience across design development, production and project delivery. She has now stepped into a full-time role within the company.

This brings to completion another full cycle of this initiative, which previously welcomed winners such as Lorna Storey, Tamsin Shattock and Lucy Chamberlain into permanent roles at KGK Genix following their placements.

Matt Walsh, Operations Director at KGK Genix, says, “At KGK Genix we believe passionately in creating meaningful pathways into our industry for the next generation. Wiktoria’s journey from HRC student to full-time Junior Project Manager is exactly what this initiative is designed to deliver. We are excited to see her talent flourish as part of our team.”

Wiktoria added, “I am thrilled to be joining KGK Genix and thankful for the opportunity provided through the HRC initiative and work placement. The experience over those five weeks gave me insight into the full project lifecycle and confirmed that this industry is where I want to build my career. I look forward to contributing to KGK Genix’s continued success and developing my skills further.”

About the initiative

The Student Retail Design & Careers Competition is run in collaboration with Hertford Regional College and invites students to work on a live creative brief from one of KGK Genix’s retail-brand clients. Winners gain a work placement at KGK Genix and the opportunity to transition into permanent employment. Previous winners Lorna Storey, Tamsin Shattock and Lucy Chamberlain have each gone on to successful roles within the company.
