Kavalan Gecko textile was chosen for its finish and environmental credentials in the Thackeray Medical Museum project
Digital Plus has chosen to work with Kavalan PVC free material from CMYUK for the first time, in a museum exhibition.
The project is taking place at the Thackeray Medical Museum in Leeds, where Digital Plus printed and installed large-scale wall graphics for an exhibition themed around blood transfusion and connection. The decision to install the graphics in single pieces made the installation particularly striking.

Digital Plus used Kavalan Gecko for the wallcoverings. This paste-the-wall grey-backed textile is available in widths of up to 5m. PVC-free and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approved, it is compatible with UV LED and Latex inks, and the perfect material for high-end photo reproduction.
The graphics complement a newly commissioned work by York-based artist Gemma Wood. Branching out across the gallery space, Vessel explores the themes of connection through blood and vein-like structures, tracking the intimate ties that can be produced through blood transfusion.
David Brisk, Sales Director at Digital Plus says, “We’ve done multiple jobs at the museum, and are big fans of one-piece wall coverings. We chose Kavalan for this job because of its excellent on-site finishing properties. It offers superior quality without any fraying issues that we’ve experienced with other materials. We hand-trim the material on three sides to achieve a perfect fit without the small frays, which would be unacceptable in high-end heritage or corporate environments. It’s got a softer aesthetic too, which works much better with the space than a more corporate vinyl look.”
Founded in 1999, Leeds based Digital Plus has grown from a regional print provider to serve a wide client base across almost every sector, from high street retailers to heritage and hospitality, gyms, and events.
Offering everything from window and floor graphics to exhibition stands, marketing materials and wall coverings, the company prides itself on its versatility and end-to-end service. With a 20-strong team, Digital Plus handles all production in-house using the latest print technology, enabling it to maintain quality control and deliver to tight deadlines.
In recent years, sustainability has been a central focus for the business, and the use of Kavalan reinforces this shift. As David notes, “It’s an area where we’ve taken a real lead, offering recycled options, sustainable disposal solutions, and materials that can be reused. Our clients, especially those in the public sector and heritage institutions, demand better environmental credentials. We’re proud to be part of that conversation.”
