Trade Signs UK, a printed visual communication specialist, supplies high-quality signage solutions to major print franchises and partner groups. The business secured the project after a property developer recommended them to NEC Software Solutions, an innovative public sector software provider. NEC had recently acquired four newly completed units to house its new data centre, head office, and meeting facilities, presenting the print team with a completely blank canvas.

The project scope encompassed a reception hall, demonstration area, meeting and training rooms, open-plan offices, storage areas, and the staff canteen. To ensure a cohesive look, all graphics were produced using HP Latex technology. An HP Latex 830w handled the majority of production, while an HP Latex 530 hybrid was used for floor vinyl and display graphics. The team then finished the prints using Vivid Easymount laminators.

In total, Trade Signs UK printed, laminated, and installed around 18 full rolls of Drytac media, supplied by exclusive UK and Ireland distribution partner Premier. The project required eight different Drytac materials to meet various aesthetic and functional needs. The main reception room featured Paper Fleece Air, a non-PVC wallcovering, alongside ReTac Textures Sand PVC film to create engaging displays. Folding movable partitions were wrapped in Paper Fleece Air, with select sections overlaminated with Protac Scribe dry erase film to create writable surfaces for training sessions. Furthermore, server rooms and storage areas utilized Polar HiGrab Air floor graphics protected by Interlam Pro Emerytex for certified slip resistance.

Installing graphics across four active fit-out units alongside builders and electricians presented logistical challenges. However, Managing Director Ben Gregory highlighted the benefits of the chosen materials.

“One of the main challenges was the sheer size of the project,” Gregory noted. “The bubble-free installation of Polar Premium Air and the repositionable nature of ReTac made the process far more manageable. Some graphics were up to 10 metres long, which made handling and lamination challenging. However, we had zero failures and achieved a flawless finish throughout.”

Following a two-week installation process, Gregory added that the customer was stunned by the results. The success of the project and the impressive image quality has already led to additional internal and external work for the business.
