Sustainable exhibition graphics in action

MacroArt helped a series of clients enhance their sustainability impact at the ICE gaming event at ExCel London in February, with over 1500m2 of graphics removed from potential landfill disposal

Wide-format print, graphics, and branding specialist MacroArt helped a series of clients enhance their sustainability impact at the ICE gaming event at ExCel London in February, with over 1500m2 of graphics removed from potential landfill disposal.

All clients sourcing graphics from MacroArt at the event were provided with a full turnkey print, install, dismantle and take-back service for their stand graphic prints, ensuring that all materials were captured and brought back for recycling correctly.

Analysis of the data after the event showed that the 1500m2 of graphics materials collected, graded, and processed into suitable audited waste streams by MacroArt’s dedicated Sustainability Team all removed from potential landfill disposal.

Although complex in the planning, the Sustainability Team developed effective processes on-site to minimise the impact for their client whilst maximising the quantity of materials reclaimed, resulting in a trouble-free operation.

Matt Guise, MacroArt’s Sales Director, was delighted with the success of the initiative:

“As the first of what we hope will be many turnkey projects, it was rewarding to see both how smoothly everything went and how much material we were able to redirect to our audited waste streams.

“Our experience at ICE has clearly shown that making a significant reduction in waste at large-scale shows is more than achievable, and we are now focusing on delivering and improving this service at future events. By providing this for both individual clients, and large scale shows with multiple clients, we are once again proving our commitment to offering the most sustainable options for graphic production.”

MacroArt’s clients at the show were pleased with the positive outcome, with the business showing that attending exhibitions and events can be achieved with a much-reduced environmental impact. Focus is now on offering the service at future shows as the company continues to deliver on its Sustainability Strategy.
