Cotek invest to expand technology portfolio

Cotswold based Cotek Papers makes significant investment in specialist converting equipment for its range of release liners

Cotek’s new Universal X8 slitter rewinder has been running at its premises in the Cotswolds since the beginning of the year. Designed for efficiency, the Universal X8 integrates cutting-edge features to complement its current portfolio of precision technology.

Consistent and reliable release liners are crucial in the graphic arts market for various applications like banners, vehicle wraps, and large-format printing, ensuring the protection and proper application of adhesive-backed materials.

Karl Gater, Managing Director of Cotek Papers commented, “Our aim is to increase the efficiency, reliability and quality of our products so that our customers can purchase the best release liners on the market. With the full backing of our parent company Laufenberg GmbH, this is the largest equipment investment made at the UK site in over ten years. The X8 provides unmatched productivity whilst maintaining ease of use, and with the machine’s advanced integrated systems the team has been able to further improve internal efficiencies.”

Dr David Muldoon, Sales Manager for Cotek Papers states “Consistent and reliable release liners are crucial in the graphic arts market for various applications like banners, vehicle wraps, and large-format printing, ensuring the protection and proper application of adhesive-backed materials. Cotek Papers offer bespoke liners with specific characteristics in line with the customer’s needs.

Release liners are used in numerous applications such as the manufacture of adhesive tapes, composite materials, wound dressings, graphic films and many other industrial products and are successfully used by end customers in the automotive, aviation, electronics, industrial tapes and medical technology industries.

Karl continues, “This investment is of strategic significance to us, as it strengthens our focus on creating innovative solutions for release liners and meeting our customers’ requirements, particularly in terms of sustainability: our new Universal X8 is considerably more energy-efficient than our existing converting lines.”

Additional improvements continue within the business to further streamline processes, improve quality and reduce waste streams.
