Ultima Displays earns industry award for Formulate F1

Ultima Displays has been Highly Commended at the Print Industry Awards 2026 for its full-scale Formulate fabric F1 racing simulator

Ultima Displays has received a High Commendation at the Print Industry Awards 2026 for its full-scale Formulate Formula 1 car. Built as an interactive centrepiece around a working racing simulator, the custom structure was recognised by judges for technical skill, innovative construction, and creative use of tension fabric.

The display first appeared on the company’s stand at The Print Show 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham. Using Ultima’s Formulate tubular aluminium system and custom-printed stretch fabric, the project brought together in-house CAD specialists, graphic designers, print operators, and finishing teams to engineer a life-sized racing car from standard exhibition materials.

Commercial Manager for Custom & Modular at Ultima Displays, Gary Maycock, commented, “We wanted to create something that would stop visitors dead in their tracks, and what better way than to build an F1 car around a racing simulator? The idea was to get people talking, draw them onto our stand and show them what Ultima Displays can do when we push the boundaries of creativity.”

Maycock added, “Our talented CAD team turned the concept into an incredible structure, while Adrian Martin, our Senior Graphic Designer, gave it the full F1 treatment, cleverly weaving our brand colours and product category logos into the graphics. The result was an absolute showstopper, and to receive recognition from the industry for something we had so much fun creating is the icing on the cake.”

Following its exhibition debut, the car has been installed at Ultima Displays’ head office and showroom in Corby, Northamptonshire. The company is inviting trade partners to view the structure in person and explore its custom manufacturing, wide-format fabric printing, and modular display finishing capabilities.
