Tight deadlines prompt Nyala 5 investment

Verve Display has installed a swissQprint Nyala 5 UV LED flatbed printer to handle time-critical event projects.

Demanding production turnarounds of two to three days between final artwork approval and on-site event installation have prompted Verve Display to invest in a swissQprint Nyala 5 UV LED flatbed printer. Installed at the company’s Harlow facility, the 3.2m x 2m flatbed provides robust production stability for complex, one-off experiential branding projects and supports the business’s recent expansion into the United States.

Established in 2003, Verve Display has evolved from a commercial large-format printer into an experiential and event branding partner serving retail activations, bespoke exhibitions, and architectural interiors. Unlike volume-driven graphics providers, the company specialises in short-run, high-precision work requiring direct printing onto challenging substrates such as acetates, foils, voiles, fabrics, and backlit sheets up to 50mm thick.

Director at Verve Display, Simon Perkes, commented, “We wanted to move away from the cycle of buying a machine and then having to replace it three or four years later. This time, we decided to make a longer-term investment in the reliability, engineering quality and residual value that swissQprint offers. That investment also underpinned our expansion into the US earlier this year, where we are taking the same creative and project management model we run in the UK and Europe to deliver exceptional event build and branding globally.”

Configured with CMYK and white ink, the Nyala 5 was selected following extensive print tests on custom gradient and colour files, allowing the company to balance print fidelity with ink consumption. Capable of output speeds up to 253 sq m/hr and addressable resolutions of up to 1,350 dpi, the platform features ten configurable colour channels, enabling the future addition of spot varnish or fluorescent inks as production demands dictate.

Sales Manager at swissQprint UK, Steve Pridham, added, “The Nyala 5 is an excellent fit for Verve Display because it combines productivity and precision with the robust engineering and modularity needed for a long-term investment. Verve Display has selected a streamlined configuration that meets its current requirements while retaining the flexibility to add further capabilities as the business develops.”
