German print specialist Gonzo Design has invested in a Fujifilm Acuity Triton featuring AQUAFUZE water-based UV ink technology to improve print quality and working conditions.
Gonzo Design, based in Hirzenhain, Germany, has recently invested in Fujifilm’s Acuity Triton, featuring AQUAFUZE water-based UV ink technology. Founded in 1993, the specialist in end-to-end advertising, textile printing, signage, and vehicle lettering made the investment to improve print quality, enhance application flexibility, and improve the air quality of its working environment.

Before the investment, the company was producing on an aging Fujifilm Vybrant solvent UV printer. Seeking an energy-saving alternative that could match the quality without using solvent inks, Gonzo Design opted for the Acuity Triton following a live demonstration at Fujifilm Europe’s headquarters in Ratingen. The new machine joins an existing Fujifilm Acuity Prime, which the business uses to print DTF stickers for small logo applications.
Jan Henrich, Production Manager at Gonzo Design, explains: “It was a few years ago when a Fujifilm representative came to visit us and informed us about a new generation of water-based UV ink that was in early-stage research. When we were later given the opportunity to see the Acuity Triton and AQUAFUZE ink in action at a live demonstration, it was clear this was a technology worth investing in.”
Henrich highlights the immediate impact on the production floor, noting that the Acuity Triton has drastically improved air quality by removing the odours the team previously experienced with its eco-solvent printer. The new system has also solved challenges with vehicle wraps, as the ink’s stretchability prevents colours from breaking, and calendared vinyl can now be printed without heat-related shrinking issues.
“With the Acuity Triton, we can replace latex and solvent printers, producing the same applications more efficiently and with better quality,” Henrich adds.
The printer supports instant finishing and low-energy curing, helping the team meet tight production schedules. Currently used primarily for self-adhesive films and banners, Gonzo Design plans to expand its use to transparent decorative materials, fabrics, and wallpapers for indoor decorations.
Chelsea Carter, Head of Wide Format Marketing at Fujifilm, comments: “Gonzo Design is a great example of a print service provider looking to improve both production performance and their working environment. With Fujifilm’s Acuity Triton and AQUAFUZE ink technology, they have maintained high print quality while expanding their application portfolio, demonstrating exactly why this technology was developed for modern sign and display production.”
