FESPAs Corrugated event in Barcelona, May 2026, will feature a dedicated conference on EU packaging legislation, AI, and digital converting
FESPA has announced the launch of its inaugural Corrugated event, a specialised platform designed to connect packaging converters and display producers with the latest in digital and analogue production technology. Taking place at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, the event occupies a dedicated 1,500m² space in Hall 3 and is co-located with FESPA Global Print Expo, European Sign Expo, WrapFest, Personalisation Experience, and the newly introduced Textile event.

The exhibition is structured as a joint venture with Brunton Publications, aimed at manufacturers of decorative and graphical corrugated packaging and POS displays. Visitors will have access to a concentrated showcase of high-speed digital printing systems, precision converting machinery, and robotics. This tech-heavy approach is supported by major industry sponsors, including Bobst (Overall Event Sponsor), Canon (Gold Sponsor), and Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Bronze Sponsor).
A core feature of the debut event is the free-to-attend Corrugated Conference. This programme addresses the rapid digital and regulatory shifts currently impacting the sector. Key sessions include an analysis of the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), led by Evert Delbanco of Flint Group, and a deep dive into regenerative packaging with Ian Bates of NOA Ltd. The programme also prioritises technical resilience, with Stefan Liversidge of OPSWAT exploring the cybersecurity landscape of modern box plants.
Nick Kirby, Non-Executive Director at Zeus Packaging and FESPA’s Corrugated Ambassador, commented, “The corrugated industry is more advanced than ever before. This inaugural event provides a platform where the community can explore cutting-edge technologies and share knowledge with fellow professionals. Over recent years, we’ve seen the overlap between print and packaging strengthen, and this event solidifies that connection.”
In addition to the educational sessions, the “Corrugated Theatre” will host discussions on the role of artificial intelligence in automating production lines, with contributions from Thomas Othax, CEO of Packitoo. The conference will also examine human resource challenges, with Jo Stephenson of Young People In Print addressing how to attract the next generation of talent to the sector.
FESPA members can access all six co-located events for free, allowing them to explore cross-sector opportunities. For those entering the market, the event offers a unique chance to transition from traditional print into the high-growth areas of e-commerce packaging and retail displays. Registration is now open, with organisers encouraging early sign-up to secure a position at what is being billed as “The Place for Experts.”
