Pureprint acquires Simpson Group

Pureprint Group has acquired North East point-of-sale specialist Simpson Group from administration, preserving all existing jobs

Pureprint Group has completed the acquisition of Simpson Group out of administration, a move that significantly scales its production capabilities across the point-of-sale, in-store marketing, and structural display sectors. Based in Washington, Tyne and Wear, Simpson Group has spent more than 50 years manufacturing award-winning point-of-purchase displays, free-standing display units (FSDUs), window installations, and complex 3D cardboard retail stands for prominent high-street brands.

As part of the transaction, Pureprint Group has confirmed that all staff roles at the Washington facility have been successfully retained, ensuring continuity of service for existing client contracts.

The acquisition directly complements Imprint, Pureprint’s dedicated retail and display division located nearby in Newburn, Newcastle upon Tyne. By bringing both North East manufacturing operations under unified corporate ownership, the group establishes an expansive regional production hub. The combined infrastructure unites specialist structural design knowledge with extensive factory floor space and diverse printing technology, notably adding Simpson Group’s high-volume, large-format lithographic print capacity to Pureprint’s established digital and offset line-up.

This consolidated resource creates a much broader service framework for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands, high-street retailers, and creative agencies, backed by two highly experienced regional production teams.

Mark Handford, CEO of Pureprint Group, said, “We are pleased to welcome Simpson Group into Pureprint Group. Simpson has a long-standing reputation within the point of sale and display market, and the business brings talented people, proven manufacturing expertise and strong customer relationships. This acquisition creates new opportunities for customers of both businesses while strengthening our ability to deliver high-quality retail and marketing solutions. We look forward to working with the Simpson team and building on the strong foundations already in place.”

The transaction aligns with Pureprint Group’s broader capital investment strategy, which focuses on scaling its workforce, technical hardware, and data-driven workflows. The integration of Simpson Group supports the organisation’s long-term commercial growth objectives across the commercial print, luxury packaging, experiential display, and multi-channel marketing services sectors.
