Mutoh Hydraton 1642 wins EDP award at FESPA

The innovative combination of Mutoh’s design with Fujifilm Aquafuze ink impressed the expert panel of judges

The HydrAton 1642 printer from Mutoh has received the European Digital Press (EDP) Award for “Best Roll-to-Roll Printer less than 170 cm” in the category of Large/Wide Format Printing Systems.

The award was presented during a ceremony held on May 8th at FESPA Berlin, one of the industry’s most prominent events.

The European Digital Press Association is an independent, non-profit organization that unites Europe’s leading trade magazines for digital printing. The annual EDP Awards celebrate the most innovative and high-performing technologies in digital printing, publishing, and packaging. They are judged by an expert panel of consultants, engineers, editors, and industry professionals with the judging criteria emphasising technical merit, usability, and the value delivered to printers and converters.

This hybrid ink system combines the benefits of water based and UV-curable inks, utilizing Fujifilm’s proprietary dispersion technology.

With low-VOC, low-odour, and non-hazardous performance, the HydrAton 1642 offers low-temperature drying for durable, scratch-resistant, and soft-feel prints thanks to its advanced print/dry technology and an ultra-thin ink film formation process. It is compatible with both plastic and paper roll media, and capable of printing on heat-sensitive substrates.
