In our first article championing young talent, journalism student Ava Reece profiles her dad, Adam who celebrates 20 years at Metamark
Metamark designs, manufactures, and supplies wide-format materials for the sign and allied graphics industries worldwide. Founded in 1992, the company has expanded its reach to more than 50 countries and established a dependable network to provide support, stock and supply its products.
In February this year, the company was acquired by UPM Raflatac, a specialist in high-quality self-adhesive paper and film products. The Finnish-based company is known for renewable alternatives to fossil-based materials, such as decarbonisation solutions, advanced materials, renewable fibres, and graphic papers.

In May this year, Adam Reece, Regional Sales Manager at Metamark, reached the impressive milestone of 20 years with the company. Adam has developed many reliable connections and established a positive working rapport with colleagues, partners and customers. Adam’s role is more than simply sales; it deals with advising clients on how to branch out into new and exciting industries to help them grow their businesses.
Outside of work, Adam is a keen fitness enthusiast who enjoys kickboxing, weight training and extreme sports. “I love travelling the world with my family and indulging in extreme sports such as scuba diving and snowboarding. I always need to challenge myself to keep doing better, and this is reflected in my career. Working for a dynamic and successful company like Metamark suits me perfectly.”
When speaking about his professional career, Adam shows great commitment to his roles, “Before Metamark, I worked at Roland DG in Sales and Marketing for 5 years. I was there when the first generation VersaCamm SP300 was released,” Adam says.
When talking about his career, Adam is very positive and says his experience has been both rewarding and educational. “Reflecting on 25 years in the sign and graphics industry, and 20 with Metamark, I’m incredibly proud to have been part of a company that has set the standard across the UK and the world. It’s been a rewarding journey, and with UPM Raflatac now at the helm, the future looks more exciting than ever.”
Thinking back upon his time at Metamark, specifically, Adam says his 20 years at the company have flown by. “They have been filled with innovation, teamwork, and pride in helping shape one of the UK’s most respected names in the sign and graphics materials market.” He is optimistic about the company’s future. “With UPM Raflatac guiding the next chapter, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Seeing how the services we have provided to our customers over the decades have helped them grow into some of the UK’s most successful businesses. Not to mention the lifelong friends I have picked up along the way.”
Adam’s role is a fundamental one to Metamark, and his contribution to the company’s development is of great significance. “20 Years ago, Metamark was a relatively unknown brand in the Southwest of the UK. Knowing the technical capabilities of our products inside and out, I believe it is essential to provide the sales support our customers require. Being on hand to advise clients’ projects with the technical knowledge from decades of sales has helped me build up a loyal customer base that has grown alongside Metamark,” he says.

However, this professional assistance is a two-way street, with Adam affirming that “Metamark has helped me over the years by strategically acquiring assets that fit the company ethos, combined with carefully thought-out product range additions. Being able to offer customers new innovative materials into industries they may not have thought about, building on the relationship and trust of the Metamark Brand.”
When asked about his loyalty to Metamark and why he chose to stay with the company all these years, Adam says, “I could see from the beginning that Metamark was a company built on core values, excellent customer service and quality products with exciting growth prospects. It didn’t take me long to know that this was something I was proud to be a part of. It’s more than just sign & graphics material sales, it’s about helping our customers expand their business offering, by advising on which industries they can approach in high-growth areas.”
Adam has found his time within Metamark to be a great learning experience for him professionally. “Decades in this industry have given me insight, perspective, and plenty of hard-earned wisdom—but the sign and graphics world is a moving canvas. Every day still teaches me something new. That’s the beauty of working in a field that never stops evolving.”
Adam concludes, “As Metamark enters this exciting new chapter as part of the UPM Raflatac family, I feel more energised than ever about what lies ahead. This milestone opens up significant global growth opportunities, combining Metamark’s proven expertise with UPM’s world-class resources and international reach. It’s a moment of real opportunity—for our brand, our people, and the customers we proudly serve.”
