The jury of the EDP Awards commended swissQprint’s new Nyala and pyramid printing in a ceremony at FESPA 2025
swissQprint celebrates as the recipient of two EDP Awards, one for the company’s 5th-generation Nyala flatbed printer and another for pyramid printing, a technique that creates images with amazing colour change effects.
The jury of the EDP Awards honoured two swissQprint products in the awards ceremony held on 8 May 2025 at the Fespa Global Print Expo in Berlin.

In the ‘Large & Wide Format Printing’ award category, swissQprint’s flagship Nyala model emerged as ‘Best Flatbed/Hybrid 150-400 m²/h’. swissQprint launched the fifth generation of the 3.2×2m flatbed printer in January of this year. It features a completely new mechanical foundation for even greater stability and precision, increased productivity (max. 253 m²/h) and 10 colour channels for maximum versatility. The jury described the printer as unique in this speed class, not least because of the roll-to-roll option that enables it to handle roll material in addition to rigid media.
This is not the first time the Nyala has been recognised by the EPD jury. As the machine has developed since its inception in 2012, it has picked up a total of four awards.
Pyramid printing – colour change effects
swissQprint also received the trophy as winner in the ‘Best Digital Embellishment Wide Format’ category for its pyramid printing technique. Pyramid printing creates a three dimensional ‘moving image’ effect similar to lenticular, through colours that change with the viewing angle. It requires knowledge, skill and utmost printing accuracy for this technique to be effective. The jury emphasised: “Unlike lenticular effects, which require expensive substrates, pyramid printing can be applied to any flat sheet material. It represents a valuable addition for users of the various printer models offered by the brand.”
