Digidelta announced the global availability of BIOND

BIOND is a bio-based range of films designed to create environmentally conscious applications.

Digidelta announce the global availability of BIOND, a bio-based range of films unveiled at FESPA Global Print Expo, and fully patented. BIOND has been developed in house by Digidelta with the environment in mind. Created from vegetable-based products, the BIOND collection is currently split into four core categories – printing films, protection films, décor films and glass décor – with each offering a selection of speciality products to suit a wide range of applications. Whether it is producing retail graphics or wall and window Digidelta say BIOND is not only visually impactful but environmentally responsible.

Each product is based on the same, patented design that makes this range more environmentally conscious than traditional PVC materials. The films contain 85%+ bio-based content, do not contain any volatile organic compounds, and are free from harmful substances such as phthalates and chlorine. All BIOND products use a water-based adhesive and are manufactured using processes that are 85% solar-powered.

The in-house approach to manufacturing helps reduce the cost of outsourcing production. Digidelta recently invested €3.4 million in its production facility in Portugal, expanding floorspace to more than 10,000sq m.

While very much focused on their ‘environmental’ nature, BIOND materials still behave in the same way as traditional, PVC vinyl films. BIOND films can be stretched without tearing, opening their use in print and cut projects, while they are supplied in several finishes including wood, stone and canvas to offer greater creativity to the user. They are compatible with all printing technologies.

These products are accredited to EU Standard CENT/TS 16137:2011, while all BIOND products are FSC-certified and recognised by EcoVadis. All carry Fire Resistance (B-s1, d0) and R9 Anti-Slip Rating validations and have been accredited in line with REACH, RoHS and SVHC standards and regulations.

In an attempt to reinforce its environmental credentials Digidelta has set up a sustainability calculator to compare PVC vinyl with its product. Here users can input how much PVC vinyl they use and calculate the carbon dioxide savings they could make in moving to bio-based BIOND materials.

“BIOND represents a fundamental shift in visual communications, delivering high-performance print media that establishes new benchmarks in environmental responsibility,” says Armando Mota, CEO of Digidelta. “Our commitment extends beyond creating eco-friendly products – we’re pioneering solutions that transform industry possibilities. Through innovative bio-based technology and smart end-of-life solutions, we’ve created a truly circular approach to visual communications – actively contributing to a more sustainable future.”
