Canon press chosen to bring charity print campaigns in house

Yeomans invest in a Canon varioPRINT iX3200 sheet fed inkjet press to bring charity print production accelerate direct mail campaigns.

Half of all previously outsourced print production has been brought in house at Yeomans, who offer supporter service to charities, following an investment in a Canon varioPRINT iX3200 sheet fed inkjet press. The installation at a new purpose built facility will allow the agency to accelerate the delivery of highly personalised communications and emergency fundraising appeals for more than 260 UK charities.

The machinery upgrade coincides with a broader restructuring at the firm, which recently completed a rebrand and a site relocation to streamline operations. By replacing legacy toner equipment with the new sheet fed inkjet platform, the production team can now access up to four times the productivity of the previous hardware setup, increasing operational flexibility for sudden market demands.

The press utilizes water based polymer pigment ink alongside inline quality assurance systems and a conditioning liquid to maintain image consistency across variable media weights. This capability allows the business to handle highly targeted mailings for hospices, faith based organisations, international NGOs and animal welfare groups without relying on external trade suppliers.

Managing Director at Yeomans, Phil Broad, said, ‘This investment wasn’t about saving money. It was about improving what we do for our clients. The Canon varioPRINT iX3200 allows us to bring much more work back in house, giving us greater control over quality, more flexibility and the ability to respond much more quickly, whether that’s a personalised campaign or an emergency fundraising appeal.’

The transition to digital inkjet also aligns with the group’s environmental targets by reducing daily print waste and enabling efficient print on demand production. The water based inks further improve the direct recyclability of the finished mail pieces when processed through standard domestic recycling streams.

Head of Graphic Arts at Canon UK and Ireland, Stuart Rising, added, ‘Yeomans have built an outstanding reputation supporting charities through innovative communications, fundraising and production services. We are delighted to support the next stage of their growth with the varioPRINT iX3200, enabling the business to bring more work in house, increase flexibility and continue delivering the responsive, high quality service their charity customers depend upon.’
