Agfa joins the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) to share digital inkjet expertise and support folding carton converters with high-speed production solutions
Agfa has confirmed its membership of the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC), the leading North American non-profit association serving converters and suppliers in the paperboard packaging sector. The move marks a significant step in Agfa’s strategy to engage more deeply with the global packaging community, providing a platform for advocacy, networking, and education.

The decision to join the PPC follows Agfa’s high-profile entry into the folding carton market with the SpeedSet Orca. This single-pass, water-based inkjet press is designed for high-volume production, delivering offset-standard print quality at speeds of up to 11,000 B1 sheets per hour. By joining the council, Agfa aims to share technical insights from the Orca ecosystem, particularly in the areas of digital inkjet development, colour management, and workflow automation.
Membership of the PPC allows Agfa to participate in a collaborative environment where converters and suppliers work together to address evolving market demands and technical challenges. The council is instrumental in fostering innovation across the folding carton industry, ensuring that members remain competitive as customer expectations shift towards more agile and sustainable production methods.
Richard Cotterill, Head of Sales for Packaging at Agfa, said, “Meaningful progress in the folding carton sector starts with open dialogue and a commitment to shared learning. Joining the PPC enables us to engage directly with converters to listen to the challenges they are facing and work together on solutions that bring tangible business value. As a PPC member, we look forward to sharing our insights and expertise from the SpeedSet Orca ecosystem and learning from converters about the evolving challenges and customer expectations they face.”
Agfa’s involvement with the PPC underscores its commitment to the North American market and its wider goal of advancing digital transformation within the packaging sector. Through this membership, the company will contribute to the collective knowledge of the folding carton community while gaining direct feedback from the converters responsible for high-volume packaging production.
The collaboration is expected to provide PPC members with greater access to digital printing expertise, helping to bridge the gap between traditional offset processes and the emerging possibilities of high-speed, water-based inkjet technology.
