The Roland Dimense DA-640 is a large-format dimensional surface printer designed for the on-demand production of textured interior surfaces. It operates using a unique piezo inkjet method that combines standard CMYK water-based inks with a special structural ink. This process, when applied to a PVC-free media and exposed to heat, allows for the creation of precise and detailed embossed effects directly on the print, with a maximum height of 2 mm. The technology enables the production of a range of textured finishes, from intricate patterns to designs that complement the printed artwork.
The printer is built with dual printheads and a dedicated media heating system, which includes a print heater and a separate oven to achieve the dimensional embossing. The printer is designed for stability during long production runs and offers an intuitive operation via a 7-inch colour LCD touchscreen. It is compatible with a variety of specialised Dimense media, including matte, pearlescent, gold, silver, and suede, which can be used to create visually striking and tactile prints for a wide range of applications.
The DA-640 employs eco-conscious features, with its water-based inks and PVC-free media, conforming to various safety standards. Its 500cc cardboard ink cartridges are designed to reduce plastic waste. The printer integrates with the included VersaWorks 7 RIP software, which is compatible with both Windows and macOS, simplifying the workflow from design to final print.
