The Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BD-8 is a compact direct-to-object flatbed printer designed for customisation on a wide range of three-dimensional items. Developed to support businesses requiring small-scale production or personalisation services, the BD-8 utilises UV printing technology to apply durable, high-resolution prints onto materials such as plastic, leather, wood, and metal.
Its small footprint and desktop form factor make it suitable for environments with limited space, including offices, retail shops, and design studios. With a maximum object height of 102 mm and a flatbed area measuring 305 mm x 230 mm, it is suited to printing on both flat and uneven surfaces.
The BD-8 employs Roland’s EUV5 UV inks and supports CMYK plus white ink configurations. It includes LED UV curing, enabling instant drying and efficient production cycles. The printer integrates with VersaWorks 6 RIP software, streamlining job management, colour accuracy, and variable data printing.
The printhead configuration includes one Roland printhead capable of producing a maximum resolution of 1,200 dpi. Designed for ease of use, the device accommodates cartridge-based ink delivery and offers compatibility with a wide variety of applications, including promotional items, industrial products, packaging prototypes, and custom retail merchandise.
The BD-8 is intended for short-run, on-demand printing and is compatible with a wide range of printable objects. It is backed by a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty and was launched in 2023.
