The Mutoh ValueJet 628 is a desktop-format eco-solvent wide-format printer designed for professional indoor and outdoor print applications. It supports roll media up to 630 mm (≈ 24-inch) width and offers print widths up to about 620 mm. Employing drop-on-demand micro-piezo inkjet printhead technology, the printer can operate with one head and two selectable head heights (1.2 mm low and 2.5 mm high) to accommodate a range of media thicknesses. It supports up to six ink colours (CMYK + Light Cyan + Light Magenta) or a configuration with double CMYK in some variants.
The printer uses Mutoh’s MS31 eco-solvent ink, available in smaller cartridges and larger bags (with adapter). It includes features such as variable dot technology, a platen heater (up to 45 °C), automatic sheet off / cut-off functions, and an optional take-up system. The included RIP software is Mutoh’s own VerteLith, bundled with FlexiDESIGNER MUTOH Edition, which provides multiple print modes (including standard and custom), colour management, RIP preview, and layout tools. The machine’s maximum resolution is 1440 dpi.
Maximum print speed (for lower resolution modes) reaches up to 433 square feet per hour (≈ 40.2 m²/h) in the fastest settings. It has a compact footprint and can be used on a tabletop or with an optional stand. The unit weighs around 31.8 kg (without stand) and consumes up to about 830 W during operation. Environmental tolerances are approximately 20-30 °C, 40-60 % relative humidity non-condensing.
