The Mutoh ValueJet 2638X is a super-wide format roll printer engineered for sign and display applications. It uses drop-on-demand micro-piezo inkjet technology in a staggered dual‐print-head configuration. Media up to about 2.6 m in width can be fed via rolls, with automatic feed and take-up, and a multi-stage heating system (pre-heater, platen heater, after-heater) to condition substrate and speed drying. The printer supports Eco-Solvent ink types (such as Mutoh Eco Ultra / Universal Mild Solvent – UMS) and offers 4-colour CMYK or extended 7-colour sets (CMYK + Light Cyan + Light Magenta + Light Black) depending on configuration.
Print resolution modes range from 360 dpi to 1440 dpi, with multiple standard and custom modes. At high quality settings (720×1080 dpi) it can operate at approximately 22 m²/h, while at more production-oriented settings (720×720 dpi) speeds up to about 39 m²/h are achievable. Maximum outdoor durability without lamination is rated at around three years. Media thickness accepted depends on head height: low, middle, high settings correspond to approx. 0.3 mm, 1.3 mm, and 2.8 mm.
The machine is sizeable (width ≈ 3708 mm, depth ≈ 885 mm, height ≈ 1261 mm), with weight ≈ 283 kg (body only). It includes features such as Mutoh Intelligent Interweaving (“i²”) to reduce banding, DropMaster dot placement, and control software with Ethernet interface. This printer is aimed at businesses needing high capacity for large banners, posters, displays, vehicle graphics, and similar sign & display work.
