Mimaki 3DUJ-553

A full-colour UV-curable 3D printer with water-soluble support.

The Mimaki 3DUJ-553 is a full-colour 3D printer that utilises a UV-curable inkjet method to produce objects with over 10 million colour combinations. It is the world’s first 3D printer to feature ICC profiling, allowing for accurate colour simulation on a monitor before printing, which helps to save time and reduce waste. The printer is equipped with eight on-demand piezo printheads and achieves a maximum print resolution of 1270 dpi. Its available modelling area is 508mm x 508mm x 305mm. The machine is designed for industrial use, with a robust build and a weight of 600 kg.

A key feature of the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 is its use of a water-soluble support material, which can be easily washed away to prevent damage to small and intricate parts during post-processing. The printed objects have a strength comparable to ABS plastic and can be further post-processed with overcoating, drilling, and screw attachment. The printer’s MH-100 acrylic resin inks include CMYK, white, and clear, with the clear ink allowing for the creation of transparent or translucent objects.

This capability, combined with full-colour printing, makes the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 a versatile tool for creating architectural models, prototypes, and art. The printer is supplied with Mimaki’s 3D Link layout software.
