The Canon Colorado M5 is a modular 1.6-metre roll-to-roll printer designed for high-volume production environments. It is the higher-speed model within Canon’s M-series, built upon the established UVgel technology platform. This piezoelectric inkjet system uses a gel-based ink that is instantly cured by low-heat UV LEDs, resulting in durable, scratch-resistant prints that are immediately ready for finishing or shipping. The M5 is engineered for scalability, offering users the ability to perform in-field upgrades, including the addition of white ink (to become an M5W model), a second media roll for automated switching, and double-sided printing capabilities.
A significant feature of the Colorado M5 is the integrated FLXfinish+ technology. This allows for the production of either a gloss or a matte finish on the substrate from a single set of inks, eliminating the need for a separate varnish or coating process. This provides flexibility for creating a wide range of applications, from general signage to high-value interior décor. With a maximum print speed of 159 sqm/h, the M5 is targeted at print service providers who require high throughput without compromising on quality.
