The Canon Colorado M Series are modular, 1.6-metre roll-to-roll large format printers designed for commercial environments. They utilise Canon’s proprietary UVgel 460 ink technology, which combines the benefits of fast drying times with excellent colour consistency. The ink set includes cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, with an optional dense white ink that is highly opaque and up to three times faster than comparable systems. The UVgel ink produces robust, scratch-resistant graphics that require no lamination for many applications.
A defining feature of this series is the FLXfinish+ technology, which allows operators to print matte, gloss, or a mixed matte and gloss finish in a single pass without needing separate varnish channels or additional printheads. The system uses low-temperature LED curing, enabling it to process a diverse range of flexible substrates, including heat-sensitive films, magnetic media, transparent films, and textured materials.
The M Series is engineered for field upgradability. Businesses can start with a base model like the M3 and later upgrade the print speed to match the M5 or add white ink functionality without investing in a completely new machine. The printer includes advanced automation tools, such as the Piezo Acoustic Integrated Nozzle Technology (PAINT), which actively monitors and compensates for nozzle failures during production to minimise waste.
Output is GREENGUARD Gold certified, making it suitable for sensitive indoor environments such as hospitals and schools. By integrating a jumbo roll feeder or additional automated finishing modules, commercial print providers can establish a continuous production workflow for bespoke wallpapers, window graphics, banners, and floor graphics.
