Avery Dennison has engineered the SPF-X2 DIR as a transparent thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film designed to protect vehicle paintwork while maintaining a clear gloss finish. It effectively acts as a barrier against common road hazards, preventing degradation from stone chips, debris, and insect stains. A critical feature for maintaining that finish is the film’s heat-activated ‘self-healing’ top-coat, which allows small scratches to disappear when exposed to heat.
For the installer, this 135-micron film is versatile enough for both manual sizing and digital cutting. It uses a permanent acrylic adhesive and requires a wet application method. The material is also suitable for layering over Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film, giving you the option to add protection to colour-change projects. With a vertical durability of up to seven years, it provides a long-term solution for vulnerable areas like bumpers, mirrors, and hoods.
