The installation aims to strengthen Planet Group’s ability to deliver high-quality, full-colour digital corrugated packaging. The company states that the new machinery offers greater speed and flexibility, supporting brands from the initial concept stage through to final production.

Planet Group identified digital printing as an increasingly important capability to meet shifting customer demands. The market currently requires shorter production runs and versioning, including pilot programmes, limited releases, and retailer-specific designs. The company notes that conventional printing processes often prove cost-prohibitive for these specific applications.

Stephen Longmire, VP of Sales at Hughes Decorr, comments on the operational advantages. He says: “The Domino X630i gives us the ability to offer high-quality, full-colour digital printing directly on corrugated with minimal setup time. It allows us to help customers move faster, reduce inventory, and maintain strong brand consistency across programmes.”

The company selected the Domino X630i specifically for its fast-drying aqueous ink technology, system robustness, and the availability of strong technical support. By eliminating the need for printing plates, the business can produce packaging without associated delays and costs. This capability facilitates rapid prototyping and efficient short production runs while maintaining consistent colour across repeat jobs.

Mike Bannerman, General Manager at Hughes Decorr, highlights the importance of the supplier relationship. He states: “For us, the Domino Difference is the combination of a robust technical platform with a genuine partnership approach. It’s not just about the hardware – it’s about collaboration, optimisation, and long-term success.”

Mike Barry, DP Commercial Director North America at Domino, adds: “We are pleased to support Planet Group as they expand their digital corrugated printing capabilities with the Domino X630i. Their focus on agility, speed‑to‑market, and high-impact retail solutions fits well with what the X630i was designed to deliver.”
