Peerless Plastics & Coatings adds a Fujifilm Acuity Prime 30 from Soyang Hardware, its second Fujifilm investment in 12 months
Peerless Plastics & Coatings, a specialist in protective hard coatings for plastic substrates, has integrated a Fujifilm Acuity Prime 30 flatbed UV printer into its production facility in Thetford. The investment, made through Soyang Hardware, marks the company’s second Fujifilm Acuity acquisition in just over a year, following the delivery of an Acuity Prime L in the summer of 2024.
Based in Norfolk, Peerless provides specialist coatings that increase the chemical and abrasion resistance of plastic products. The company also offers a suite of support services, including injection moulding, spray painting, CNC routing, and digital printing. According to the company, the recent hardware investment was driven by a sustained increase in demand for digital print services.

The Fujifilm Acuity Prime 30 features a bed size of 2,500mm x 1,270mm and achieves top speeds of 150 square metres per hour. The system is equipped with five vacuum zones and can be configured with colour, white, clear, and primer inks. For Peerless, the decision to select the Prime 30 was influenced by the need for technical consistency across its print department.
Liam Cameron, Senior Head of Print at Peerless, said, “When we did our initial product research on inks before we purchased the Prime L, we decided that the Fujifilm with the HF UV ink performed the best. When we decided we needed another printer, we wanted to add the exact same inks, so it can run side by side with our current Prime L. With this, we identified the Prime 30 as the best option for us with the exact same inks.”
The smaller footprint of the Prime 30 is being utilised for specific applications, such as printing obscuration borders for automotive screens and other niche components. By delegating these smaller tasks to the new machine, the company has increased the capacity of its larger Prime L for high-volume work, resulting in reduced lead times for customers.
Cameron added, “We decided on the smaller machine because it is the perfect size for printing obscuration borders for automotive screens and other smaller niche jobs we produce. It has allowed us to free up capacity so that we can put more work into the department and win tighter projects and reduce our lead times for customers. With the ink performing very similar to a screen print ink, the new machine allows us to go and win more obscuration border work.”
Regarding the partnership with the supplier, Liam said, “Again, working with Soyang and Nigel Briggs was a brilliant experience. We got to have a demo on the Prime 30 before purchasing and Nigel was brilliant in providing samples and anything else we needed.”
