New EFI M3h reduces Hollywood Monster energy consumption

Hollywood Monster continues its longstanding relationship with CMYUK with its latest EFI M3h printer acquisition

Hollywood Monster has invested in an EFI M3h UV LED hybrid printer from CMYUK to replace an older EFI VUTEk HS125.

“The two HS125s have been great printers, and they have worked really hard for us and our clients,” says Hollywood Monster’s CEO, Simon McKenzie, “but as we continue to grow, we needed to upgrade. We have consistently chosen EFI technology because they continually push the boundaries of what’s possible whilst also helping us reduce our carbon footprint.”

This is the 14th EFI printer that Hollywood Monster has purchased from CMYUK. Over the last two decades, it has continually invested in a plant list capable of producing high quality print volumes within the shortest turnaround times.

The VUTEK M3h made its debut on the EFI stand at Fespa, Berlin, earlier this year. It is recognised as the successor to EFI’s iconic GS series of printers, considered by EFI to be the most successful hybrid product in VUTEK’s history.

Compared to the VUTEk HS125, the M3h slashes power usage by over 75% from 15.5kW to just 3.8kW and has fewer consumables. Productivity is increased with instant on/off UV lamps that require less maintenanceInks don’t need to be purged between jobs, reducing ink waste and downtime, resulting in a greater cost-effective operation that doesn’t compromise on productivity or print quality.

“In terms of energy consumption, the M3h is far more sustainable and efficient which is incredibly important to us from an ESG perspective, and even though it’s a 3.2m wide printer, its footprint is smaller than the HS125. Part of the reason for that is because of its reduced table depth that takes up less floor space. It still copes with the large sheets but makes the feeding of these into the printer much more manageable,” says Simon.

This printer is a versatile all-rounder, offering board, sheet, and roll-to-roll printing on media up to 5.08 cm thick, with fast changeover.  It offers production-level continuous print capabilities as well as queue-on-demand functionality for multi job printing to maximise productivity.

With a maximum resolution of 2400 dpi, and speeds of up to 290 sq.m/hr (77 boards), it prints CMYK plus white and offers clear coat ink for full flood or spot colour enhancements. A magnetic linear drive enables more accurate dot placement for precision printing with 7pL/14/pL grayscale print heads.

Says Simon, “The VUTEk M3h supports our diverse print requirements. It delivers superior performance to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of our client base – while reducing environmental impact, to which we are fully committed.  This purchase continues our longstanding partnership with CMYUK and EFI, both central to the growth and success of our business.”
