Mimaki to unveil 3D Print Prep Pro v2.0 for complex data workflows

Mimaki to launch 3D Print Prep Pro v2.0 June 26 featuring lattice structures and drone data conversion for 3D print workflows

Mimaki has revealed a significant update to its 3D printing workflow management software with the upcoming launch of Mimaki 3D Print Prep Pro v2.0 (3DP3v2). Scheduled for release in June 2026, the software is designed to automate the optimisation of 3D data, lowering the technical barriers for businesses entering the medical, architectural, and design markets.

A major addition to the v2.0 update is the lattice structure conversion function. This feature allows users to apply one of four lattice patterns to a 3D object, with adjustable density settings to reduce weight or create a cushioning effect. This advancement is particularly relevant for producing realistic mock-ups of soft goods, such as footwear or furniture, where multi-directional flexibility is required.

The new lattice structure function allows users to create 3D prints with a cushioned or soft effect, ideal for realistic mock-ups of shoes and other soft items.

The software has also expanded its data conversion capabilities to handle more complex inputs. It can now process topographic and architectural measurement data collected by drones, as well as CT (cross-sectional) scan data. Previously, converting CT scans into printable files often required multiple software programmes; 3DP3v2 consolidates this into a single workflow, simplifying the creation of medical models and historical replicas.

Addressing industry concerns regarding data security, Mimaki has evolved the software from a cloud-only service to one capable of full offline operation. This change allows businesses to process sensitive information or proprietary designs without the risk of intellectual property leaks, providing a more secure production environment for high-stakes projects.

Arjen Evertse, Director Sales at Mimaki Europe, said, “This latest update to our 3D printing software aims to support existing 3D printers looking to streamline their process while processing more complex data, as well as new printers looking to 3D as a new revenue opportunity but are intimidated by the level of expertise needed. 3DPv2 makes the entire process easy from beginning to end, so businesses can confidently respond to customer demands.”

Mimaki is exclusively distributed in the UK and Ireland by Hybrid Services. The release of 3DP3v2 ensures that users can manage the entire 3D preparation process, from data conversion to final optimisation, within a single, user-friendly interface, reducing the time and specialised knowledge traditionally required for high-quality 3D output.
