Konica Minolta has unveiled the JETvarnish 3D Web 400, a new digital embellishment press designed to accelerate time-to-market for label converters.
Konica Minolta has unveiled the JETvarnish 3D Web 400. The manufacturer designed the new digital embellishment solution to help label converters accelerate time-to-market, enhance brand impact, and deliver greater value to customers.

Available immediately, the JETvarnish 3D Web 400 represents the latest generation of roll-to-roll digital embellishment presses from MGI Digital Technology. The machine enables single-pass spot UV varnishing and hot foil stamping using a 100 per cent digital process. It operates across a wide range of substrates and supports offset, flexo, toner, and inkjet printing. The system handles short, medium, and long runs by enhancing labels with digital spot UV varnish and hot foil stamping in fixed or variable data, applying both flat and 3D effects.
The company states that the system supports faster product launches and stronger shelf differentiation for brand owners by enabling premium finishes in a single digital workflow. Konica Minolta claims the technology allows brands to respond quickly to market demands and introduce new designs without the constraints of traditional finishing processes.
Featuring a modular concept, the JETvarnish 3D Web 400 is available in six configurations. Buyers can select one or two print engines, with or without a hot foil unit, and with or without an inline semi-rotary die-cutting unit. Operators control the machine via an intuitive interface that they can replicate on a digital tablet. The system uses the MGI Connect software suite to integrate cost calculation, predictive maintenance, and a realistic visualisation of the embellishment effect.
Konica Minolta adds that the 100 per cent digital integration, unified workflow, and real-time monitoring deliver the benefits of Factory 5.0 for optimum productivity.
Key features of the JETvarnish 3D Web 400 include an online 3D and augmented reality proofing solution, which enables customers to remotely visualise the impact of the digital embellishment. An artificial intelligence-controlled AIS Scanner ensures perfect on-the-fly registration. In addition to applying a regular spot UV varnish in the first printer unit, users can optionally apply a special varnish in the second unit that does not adhere to hot foil. This combination enables varnishing and foiling in a single pass.
The press operates at print speeds of up to 42 metres per minute on roll widths from 200 mm up to 350 mm, which operators can optionally extend to 420 mm. Furthermore, automatic on-the-fly makeready eliminates waste and optimises raw material consumption, allowing users to run consecutive prints efficiently. The machine also features an automatic cleaning system that takes just 10 minutes a day.
Toshi Uemura, Head of Industrial Print Business at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, comments on the release. He says, “With this groundbreaking technology that enables single-pass spot UV varnishing and hot foil stamping using a 100% digital process, the JETvarnish 3D Web 400 is another example of how we help printers, converters and brand owners to rethink possibilities and maximise efficiencies.”
Uemura adds, “The launch is a manifestation of our dedication to pioneering digital transformation, fostering resilience, and contributing to the sustainability of the printing industry, especially as the era of print Industry 5.0 comes to life.”
