Part of the wider Signs Express network, Signs Express Newcastle delivers a range of services including window graphics, exhibition displays, signage, and vehicle graphics.

The new 1.63m-wide printer was installed in July 2025 by HP partner Papergraphics. It replaces an HP Latex 330 that had been in operation for over eight years. According to Signs Express Newcastle, the decision to upgrade was driven by a desire to elevate growth potential and increase in-house abilities.

Adam Greaves, Managing Director of Signs Express Newcastle, commented on the investment. “The HP Latex 330 gave us outstanding quality and reliability, so when the time came to make a new investment, our first choice was always going to be an HP Latex machine.”

The HP Latex 630W features a top speed of 14sq m/hr in standard mode and includes white ink capability. This feature has allowed the company to bring profitable work in-house, such as printing on transparent, metallic, or coloured substrates.

“The HP Latex 630W allows us to print opaque white ink, which opens up new creative and high-margin applications… that we could not do in-house before,” said Greaves.

Greaves also noted the operational benefits, stating that the water-based HP Latex technology produces “crisp, vivid results” on materials ranging from vinyl and canvas to fabrics. He added that the instant-dry output has helped reduce turnaround times.

Sustainability was another factor in the selection process. The water-based inks used in the HP Latex 630W are described as having less environmental impact compared to solvent, eco-solvent, and UV alternatives. “With the water-based HP Latex inks being more environmentally friendly… this is supporting customer demand for more sustainable signage and printed applications,” Greaves explained.

Signs Express Newcastle plans to continue its growth trajectory, with Greaves indicating that HP Latex technology will remain a preferred choice for future investments.
