Graphtec GB Sponsors D&T Innovation Lab: Hands-on Creativity with Control Technology for Schools

Interactive workshops showcased cutting-edge tools and equipment tailored for Primary and Secondary school practitioners

Workshops were designed to show how new technology can enhance and promote learning in school environments

Graphtec GB lined up alongside the likes of Lego and Micro:bits at a unique event for schools held in Birkenhead. The event was designed to demonstrate how latest technology can be easily incorporated into primary and secondary school learning environments.

The first-ever Design and Technology Workshop was held in June 2024. Teachers from nearby primary and secondary schools joined in with a range of absorbing and exciting sessions.

The workshops were:

  • Digital Cutters with Graphtec GB
  • Enhancing D&T with Micro:bits
  • Lego Spike Prime
  • MTa STEM Kits: Experiential Learning
  • 3D Design and Printing
  • Augmenting D&T with Makey Makey
  • 3D Worlds – CoSpaces and Virtual RealityUnlock

Graphtec GB sponsored the event and ran a workshop with a Laser machine and a Graphtec Cutter. All the workshops were designed to show how this exciting technology can enhance and promote learning in school environments.

Ellen Wain, Business Development Manager for Graphtec GB, says, “Due to limited resources, schools struggle to invest and implement technology that could improve and enhance learning. This event was designed to demonstrate some fantastic new technology and show how well they fit into a classroom environment and how they inspire creativity amongst students and teachers.”

She concludes, “It was a fantastic day. All the teachers were fully absorbed in all the sessions. The day was filled with enthusiasm, and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.”
