Graphtec FC9000 cuts a great PPF solution for Bear’s Detailing

Bear’s Detailing specialises in paint protection film (PPF) application, machine polishing, ceramic coating, and leather recolouring.

Tony Wood from Bear’s Detailing

Tony Wood from Bear’s Detailing says, “We differentiate ourselves with a strong background in bodywork preparation and spray painting. This gives us deeper insights and expertise compared to the average detailer.”

Bear’s Detailing recently invested in a Graphtec FC9000 cutter from Granthams GT to improve its cutting capability. Tony explains, “We faced significant delays in receiving pre-cut materials on time, which significantly impacted our overall workflow. If we then had any issues with the cuts, it meant additional delays due to extra delivery times.”

He adds, “We wanted to have much better control of the process by having the flexibility to manipulate PPF patterns to suit our specific installation techniques. The Graphtec FC 9000 was a natural choice because its predecessor, the FC8600, was a market leader and well-regarded in the industry.”

Granthams GT is a reseller of Graphtec’s exclusive UK and Ireland Distributor, Graphtec GB. Jamie Reader, Large Format Systems Consultant at Granthams GT, says, “The Graphtec FC Series has long been our go-to solution for premium detailing and cutting Paint Protection Film. It also helps that a number of well-established PPF manufacturers have given Graphtec their stamp of approval, meaning we can say with confidence that it’s up to the task straight out of the box.”

Graphtec GB support

Ellen Wain, Business Development Manager for Graphtec GB, says, “The Graphtec FC9000 is a fantastic machine. It includes a host of features for high quality, accurate cutting and seamless integration with networks and workflows. It also has a range of tools, making it reliable, versatile and flexible enough to meet the needs of busy workshops.”

Tony says Graphtec GB and Granthams GT provided a great installation. “Our experience with the two companies was seamless. Upon selecting the FC 9000, we received comprehensive installation support when it was delivered. The setup process was smooth, with guidance provided at every step, ensuring the cutter was assembled correctly and ready for use.”

The Graphtec FC9000 cutter

“The Graphtec FC 9000 has significantly improved our operations by allowing us to edit patterns and plot exactly what we need on-site,” says Tony, adding, “This flexibility means that if an installation isn’t perfect, we can quickly re-plot and reapply without waiting for new materials. This ability reduces delays and time pressure, enhancing our efficiency and service quality.”

He continues, “The support from both companies has been excellent. They provided thorough and professional assistance during the installation and setup, ensuring we were comfortable with the new equipment and its functionalities.”

In conclusion, Tony says, “We aim to streamline our current offerings by utilising the Graphtec FC 9000 to edit and cut patterns on-site, eliminating the need for intermediaries. The new machine means we can consider expanding into automotive decal production. However, our primary focus remains on optimising and enhancing our existing services with the new equipment.”
