FASTSIGNS St Albans adds technical apprentice to team

Signage specialist, FASTSIGNS St Albans, has bolstered its growing team by hiring a Level 3 Signage Technician apprentice.
Charlie Gordon is the new Level 3 Signage Technician apprentice at FASTSIGNS St Albans

The 24-month apprenticeship programme is tailored to the requirements of the printing industry and covers the design, manufacture, fabrication and installation of signage. As part of the programme, the new apprentice 24-year old Charlie Gordon, will be taking on tasks including preparing signage illustrations, designing and using machinery, as well as familiarising himself with new equipment and tools such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).

The new hire follows a period of significant growth for the franchise, which includes the expansion of its workforce and the completion of various projects with high-profile clients. The franchise also recently won an award at the FASTSIGNS UK Convention, taking home the Sales Improvement of the Year Award.

Commenting on Charlie Gordon joining the team, Lee Simpson, Franchisee of FASTSIGNS St Albans, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new apprentice, Charlie, to our team. It will be rewarding to see how his skill sets develop during the apprentice programme, supported by our fantastic in-house team of experts. The world of signage has changed much in the last two years and, as such, we’ve noticed a real uptick in interest from the younger workforce, in particular, to get involved in the industry. We’re eager to show newcomers like Charlie the ropes of the industry, right through from signage assembly and production, to installation.

“I started out as an apprentice, and I truly believe that was a remarkable beginning to my career, and a useful learning curve. We’ve already seen that Charlie has a great work ethic and determination to succeed, so he will make a great addition to our existing team.”

John Davies, Managing Director of FASTSIGNS UK, added: “Over the last two years, we’ve been able to facilitate a supportive culture that encourages growth and good leadership in each centre. FASTSIGNS is acting as a greenhouse for talent by employing apprentices.

“It’s important for us to be supportive and pass on skills to those who’re longing to develop. Bringing new people into the industry and honing their skills is vital to drive economic competitiveness and supports the industry as a whole. It’s our priority to follow this approach and fill our franchises with young, budding talent.”
