The events company has reduced turnaround times from days to hours by adding roll-to-roll and flatbed capabilities
Event Engineering has installed two Sinocolor printers supplied by China Print Supplies (CPS). The investment aims to bring print production in-house and reduce turnaround times for the Loughborough-based company.

The new equipment consists of a Sinocolor UR3200S roll-to-roll printer and a Sinocolor FB-2513 flatbed. Previously, Event Engineering relied on outsourcing for fabric and direct-to-media (DTM) prints, while using an existing Epson unit for vinyl work.
Harvey Scarborough-Wilkins, who heads up print operations at Event Engineering, explained the logistical challenges that drove the investment. “We’re often working to incredibly short timeframes,” says Scarborough-Wilkins. “There are times when an event is already being built, and we’ll get a last-minute change that needs printing within a couple of hours before it goes on a courier. Before, we just couldn’t do that.”
According to the company, the decision to partner with CPS was influenced by the balance of cost and performance. “At this price point, these machines are almost twice as fast as other printers we looked at, and the print quality still holds up really well at those higher speeds,” says Scarborough-Wilkins.
The new printers were recently utilised for an activation for HSBC at Goodwood Revival. The project required rear-printed 8mm clear acrylic sheets, fabric backdrops, and a world map printed onto steel Dibond.
“These are the kind of prints that show what the new machines can really do,” says Scarborough-Wilkins. “They’re high-impact, perfectly colour-matched, and done in-house, which means we can control the timing and quality right down to the wire.”
Since the installation, Event Engineering reports that turnaround times for specific tasks have dropped from a minimum of three days to a matter of hours. The company has also expanded its internal capabilities to include fabric and DTM printing, reducing reliance on external suppliers.
Looking ahead, Event Engineering plans to further expand its print department and increase the range of in-house finishes, such as silicon-edged fabric prints. The company states that the new equipment has provided greater control over production schedules, allowing the team to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
