Canon has retained its EcoVadis Platinum status for 2026, improving its overall score to 89/100 to remain in the top one per cent of rated businesses.
Canon has announced that it has achieved EcoVadis Platinum status for the second consecutive year. This certification places the technology manufacturer within the top one per cent of businesses evaluated worldwide regarding sustainability performance.

EcoVadis operates as a globally recognised provider of business sustainability ratings. The organisation evaluates over 150,000 companies spanning 185 countries and 250 industries. Its methodology assesses performance across four distinct categories: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. In the 2026 assessment, Canon increased its overall score to 89/100, marking an improvement over the 85/100 score it recorded in 2025.
According to Canon, this performance highlights the group’s comprehensive dedication to sustainability. The assessment awarded the company particularly high marks in the Environment and Labour & Human Rights categories.
Peter Bragg, Sustainability & Government Affairs Director at Canon EMEA, comments on the achievement: “This ongoing recognition, alongside our improved overall score, serves as powerful validation of our commitment to sustainable business practices and our continuous drive to positively influence our environmental and social footprint. Retaining our Platinum status and remaining among the top 1% of rated organisations motivates us to continue raising the bar for sustainability in our industry.”
The company continues to pursue aggressive environmental targets. Canon states that it aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout entire product life cycles by 2050. This commitment encompasses Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. To support this long-term objective, the manufacturer has set science-based emissions reduction targets in line with SBTi standards.
By 2030, Canon plans to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42 per cent compared to 2022 levels. Furthermore, the company targets a 25 per cent reduction in Scope 3 emissions (specifically categories 1 and 11) over the same timeframe.
