Barbieri electronics launches Spectro Swing qb 6 mm

Barbieri electronics has released a 6 mm version of its Spectro Swing qb to provide stable colour measurement on visually noisy and textured substrates.

Barbieri electronics has announced the expansion of its professional measurement portfolio with the launch of the Spectro Swing qb 6 mm. This new device joins the successful Swing qb platform and is designed to deliver enhanced stability and confidence in colour measurement across increasingly diverse digital printing applications.

The Spectro Swing qb 6 mm is designed for measuring textured and visually noisy surfaces.

Built on the proven Spectro Swing qb platform, the new 6 mm variant integrates seamlessly into existing production workflows. The device offers automated reflection and transmission measurements and supports M0, M1, and M2 measurement conditions in accordance with ISO 13655 standards. For connectivity, the unit features both Ethernet and USB-C interfaces. Powered by BARBIERI qb-Technology, the system ensures highly accurate colour data for the precise calibration and profiling of digital printing systems.

The manufacturer explicitly positions the 6 mm version for applications where surface texture can impact measurement accuracy. It is particularly suited for the label and flexible packaging sectors, as well as for decorative papers and wallpapers (specifically flat samples). Furthermore, the device addresses the specific needs of uncoated or grainy commercial papers and substrates that exhibit high ink coverage or visible surface structure. By delivering optimised performance on these challenging materials, the instrument enables print professionals to expand into demanding market segments with greater confidence.

This release establishes a clear distinction within the Spectro Swing qb family of products. The existing 2 mm version continues to provide maximum precision on smooth, uniform surfaces. In contrast, the new 6 mm version delivers increased stability on textured or visually noisy surfaces.

Stefan Barbieri, CEO of Barbieri electronics, comments on the release: “The new 6 mm version meets the growing demand for stable color measurement on visually noisy surfaces, extending the proven and easy to operate Spectro Swing qb to further digital printing applications”.

With this addition, Barbieri aims to further strengthen its leadership in professional colour measurement. The company states that the expanded portfolio empowers print providers to maintain colour consistency, reduce variability, and ensure predictable production results across a broader range of substrates.
